You don't have to dream of California. This laid-back cruiser brings this unique nonchalance right to your doorstep. Its low seat height invites you to hop on immediately. As a thoroughly relaxed road surfer, you might want to give your ears some fitting music to listen to. And then: roadtrippin' towards an endless summer. Alternatively, you may simply want to listen to the sound of the boxer engine and let its drive system roll you through metropolises or rock around winding country roads. Enjoy this unique #Soulfuel feeling – life is easy on the R 12.
Just look at it standing there; like a promise. Every journey on it will feel like this: simple, beautiful, relaxed. The classic cruiser flyline, which slopes down towards the rear, is formed by the solo seat in conjunction with the large rear-wheel cover. The teardrop-shaped steel tank, modelled on the former toaster tanks, blends in harmoniously. The rear section looks compact and coordinated thanks to the function-integrated indicator lamps with integrated rear light. 19" front wheel and 16" rear wheel round off the flat, laid-back appearance.
Customise it!
The basis for individual ideas is the backbone concept. The classic tubular spaceframe, the flat suspension strut and the new airbox give maximum freedom in the design of the tank seat area. With customising parts such as the drag bar handlebars or the custom rear end trim, for example, you can give your R 12 a striking bobber style in no time at all.
Rock’n’roll on the road
With the legendary drive and the ROLL and ROCK riding modes, you can switch from seriously laid-back to dynamic whenever you feel like it. This boxer engine optimised for the custom cruiser delivers a rich torque and fine acceleration on the road at low revs. The ROLL riding mode is optimised for a balanced cruiser feeling. The ROCK riding mode makes you want to chase bends dynamically with optimum stability. As a special highlight, the R 12 moves a little rockier when idling.
Hang Loose
How relaxed can you be when riding? The special handlebar and footrest ergonomics ensure an outstanding cruiser feeling with a relaxed sitting position. The low seat height is inviting and as perfect for first-time riders as it is for born-again bikers. More reasons to stay relaxed: ABS Pro regulates the braking effect depending on the lean angle and DTC also increases riding safety. Lean back and enjoy your ride.
The spirit of easy
Just get on. The R 12 will take you anywhere in comfort. Start without a key thanks to Keyless Ride. Use your smartphone for sat nav with the optional ConnectedRide Control, including mobile phone holder. Have everything displayed even more clearly on the optional Digital Display. Shift between gears without actuating the clutch with the shift assistant of the optional comfort package.
Shine on: gold and black spoked wheels
The optional tubeless spoked wheels enhance every mile and every kilometre. Golden accents reflect the sun as you ride towards it in style. Gold spoke wheels only available on Option 719 variant.
Technical highlight: LED headlight
Illuminating the road before you: the LED headlight with daytime running light ensures that you see everything and are seen by everyone – at any time of day or night and even in poor visibility.
Inviting: extra low seat height
Welcome home: The single seat bench with a low seat height of just 754 mm makes the R 12 easily accessible and invites a large number of fans to climb aboard.
Hi-tech on board: the brake system
Unrestrained riding pleasure, even if you have to stop. The partial integral brake system ensures automatic brake force distribution with dynamic adaptation.
Dynamics and comfort: shift assistant Pro
Cruising instead of shifting: the shift assistant Pro is included in the optional comfort package. It enables gear changes in both directions without actuating the clutch.
Elegant detail: the chromed name plate
The shiny, chromed aluminium plate adorns your R 12 with its name and makes your bike recognisable everywhere – wherever it is you may go.
Modern vintage: the round instrument
The round instrument emphasises the retro character of the R 12. The analogue speedometer proves that you are riding a bike with history.
Powerful centrepiece: the boxer engine
It may not be a heart of gold, but it is a very powerful heart: the popular boxer engine of the R 12 delivers fine acceleration on the road even at low revs thanks to its rich torque.
